Gorgon Stare is a persistent wide-area surveillance system mounted on MQ-9 Reaper drone aircraft. This high technology system provides multi-spectral high-resolution video of up to 64 square kilometers allowing long-term intelligence of enemy activity on the ground. Because the MQ-9 can stay aloft for up to 14 hours, only two aircraft are required to provide continuous reconnaissance of enemy deployment, movement, vehicles, and so forth. Data retention and analysis is a key component of the Gorgon Stare system and data is archived for up to 30 days for post-combat analysis.
